Almost 500,000 flowers will decorate St. Petersburg by UEFA Euro 2020

Preparations for the UEFA Euro 2020 championship and St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will include planting 436,000 flowers, 132 trees and over 5,000 bushes along city streets. In addition, 1,900 square meters of sidewalks and 15,485 square meters of lawns will be repaired.

"Decorating St. Petersburg's streets with flowers will help create a festive atmosphere and raise spirits. Flowers will be given special attention this year so that SPIEF guests and soccer fans can see our bright, beautiful and blossoming city," said Governor Alexander Beglov.

City preparation plans include the main routes that visitors will use in the Admiralteisky, Centralny, Frunzensky, Moscovsky, Pushkinsky, Kirovsky, Krasnoselsky and Petrodvortsovy districts.

Flowers and bushes will also be planted on Moscow and Leninsky avenues, the Obvodnoi Canal embankment, in Victory Square and on Pulkovskoye Motorway.

Maritime Victory Park adjacent to Saint Petersburg Stadium will get 248 new trees as well as over 4,000 Violets, and thousands of annual and perennial plants. In addition, lawns and sidewalks will also be put in order and repaired.

Special attention will be paid to cleaning green areas and city streets during Euro 2020 and SPIEF.
