Russia to grant visa-free entry to EURO 2020 foreign fans

The Russian government has opened entry to foreign citizens who will attend events of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved amendments to the relevant documents, according the press service of the EURO 2020 Organizing Committee in St. Petersburg.

Spectators who have tickets to EURO 2020 matches in St. Petersburg will be able to enter Russia with their fan ID. Those who are taking part in EURO 2020 events, such as UEFA official delegations, personnel working to prepare and hold the championship, team members, journalists and volunteers, will be able to fast-track the visa process.

"The current difficult conditions have drastically limited he movement of people, but with the understanding of the federal executive bodies, we managed to open the borders for those who want to come to St. Petersburg to celebrate football. It is very important to keep in mind that we intend to hold the safest championship possible: permission to enter Russia does not eliminate the rules and measures that must be observed in Russia, such as presenting a negative PCR test," said Alexei Sorokin, general director of the EURO 2020 Local Organizing Committee in St. Petersburg.

Fans who travel to Russia to attend EURO 2020 can enjoy a visa-free stay in the country until July 12. The championship will be held on June 11 — July 11, and St. Petersburg will host six group-stage matches and a quarter-final match.

The Rossiya Segodnya Media Group is the official operator of the EURO 2020 Host City Media Center. It will open on June 10 and will operate during the entire tournament, until July 12. Applications for accreditation opened on May 11 in the Media Center section on the website media.welcome2020.ru. Once accreditation is confirmed, journalists will be able to collect their badges at the media center located at 70 Nevsky Prospekt.

Rossiya Segodnya successfully organized host city press centers all across Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The media group also set up similar press centers during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
